Running from Rochester Airport in the south to Luton in the north, the Horsted Valley is one of the most beautiful and wildlife rich areas of Medway. Habitats, including ancient woodland, scrub and chalk grassland are full of invertebrates, birds, reptiles, small mammals and wildflowers, throughout the year.

At weekends the Barnfield football pitches are busy with local teams, but if you want a quiet relaxing walk then along the valley’s many trails you can find information about the area’s history and wildlife, including the two old forts of Horsted and Luton.

The Friends of Horsted Valley are active throughout the year helping to keep the area free of litter, supporting projects to protect the wildlife and organising walks.
