This year a record-breaking 2,061 parks in the UK achieved the prestigious Green Flag Award, and for the past month, the UK public has been voting for their favourite in the Green Flag Award People’s Choice.

Over 59,000 votes were cast in total and the winners have now been announced as:

  •  Hollycroft Park, Hinckley
  •  Margam Park, Port Talbot
  • Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, London
  • Strathaven Park, South Lanarkshire
  • Telford Town Park, Telford
  • University of Essex Wivenhoe Park, Colchester
  • Valentines Park, Ilford
  • Victoria Park, Tower Hamlets
  • Warley Woods, Smethwick

In 2020, more people than ever have come to see the benefits of visiting our parks and green spaces.

For millions of us, they have been a lifeline; a place to meet friends and family safely or to escape to for some much-needed peace and quiet. Many have also discovered the joy of exercising outdoors.

Here in Medway eight of our greenspaces received Green Flag Awards this year which is a fantastic achievement and we hope we can improve on this next year – and even make it in to the Top Ten!
