Here’s the latest update, including information from the Council which might affect our greenspaces:

From Medway Council: “We have taken the precaution of extending the cancellation of our events until the end of July, so sadly we won’t be running the Medway Mile in July.

Our Household Waste and Recycling centres will all be closed until further notice. This is to discourage people from leaving their homes as set out in government guidance.

From this Wednesday 1st April, there will be no further collection of white goods (eg fridges, freezers) through our bulky waste collections. All existing bookings will be cancelled directly with the people booking them and refunds will be given.

Other bulky waste collection will continue as normal.”

Cancelling events till the end of July applies to all greenspaces so all groups need to look at their July calendar and either cancel or reschedule events to later in the year.

Closing the tips and stopping collection of white goods is unavoidable under the circumstances but may lead to an increase in fly tipping especially in greenspaces and alleys. If you see this then please report it as normal through the Council website and the Council will endevour to clear things as quickly as possible.

On another note, we’d would like to share a call out from Medway Voluntary Action who are looking for telephone befrienders (for socially isolated people, particularly during the COVID 19 restrictions).
